Hanukkah celebrates the triumph of light over darkness, of spirituality over materiality. At the heart of the Hanukkah festival is the nightly Hahukkiah lighting: a single flame on the first night, two on the second, and so forth for eight nights. Tomorrow the 8th Hanukkah candle will be lit, so today I would like to say to you
HAPPY HANUKKAH
Every year I try to come up with a new Hanukkiah design and this year I designed a modern geometric one.
It is made in the shape of Magen David - the Star of David - in the form of two intersecting triangles. One triangle is made of blue and white baroque glass with a wave pattern, and the second triangle is made of clear waterglass, so it casts a wavy shadow. To me these waves symbolize the flow of time, the flow of the endless river of time where the festival of Hanukkah remains a solid island for more than twenty-one centuries.
